The teas listed here provide a brief description of its beneficial use. You may find something for your health. One reason herbal teas are beneficial is that the body more easily absorbs the liquid. Also the extract is more concentrated when it is boiled in water. This provides you with an herbal extract that is absorbed into the body in a concentrated form, which then delivers the beneficial properties of the herb throughout the body. Some herbal teas provide excellent antioxidants properties, which are great as a preventative measure for future health problems. Antioxidants prevent or slow the process of oxidation by attacking free radicals, which do damage to the body and are related to aging, stress and damage from pollution and cigarette smoke. Remember to find a tea that you enjoy just for the flavor since being content is part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle - you deserve it! Also be aware that some of these herbs can be potent so be careful especially if you are pregnant or have other ailments. Apple and Cinnamon Tea Helps reduce coughing Black Tea Provides vitamin B2, zinc and folic acids. Said to boost the immune system and fight off infections. Reduces bad breath. Camomile Tea Use to reduce stress, for its antibacterial properties, fighting colds and reducing muscle spasms. Ginger Tea Used for upset stomachs, controlling morning sickness, helps in lowering blood pressure, reducing blood clots. Said to help stimulate blood flow. Green Tea Full of flavanoids, green tea is said to lower blood pressure, blood clotting helping digestion and protecting cells from free radicals. Ginseng Tea Chinese use Ginseng tea to increase energy, release stress and is considered an aphrodisiac. Lavender Tea Invigorates the nerve tissues if taken as a tea and is said to be good for cleaning the abdominal tract to rid it of toxins. Lemon and Honey Tea This tea is a source of vitamin C in lemons and antibacterial properties in honey. Licorice Tea This tea is said to reduce the symptoms of asthma, sooth the lining of the stomach and intestines and to treat chronic hepatitis C. Nettle Tea This tea is a rich source of iron, folic acid vitamin B, silica and other minerals for nail growth and strength. Helps in cleaning the bowels Peppermint Tea Helps in digestion if you've eaten too much and for combating flatulence. Also contains menthol, which can cause you to sweat and rid your body of toxins. Raspberry Tea For menstrual bleeding and toning up the uterus for labor – beware that it may trigger labor. Valerian Tea Helps with sleeping by blocking nerve impulses to the brain. (Please note that this gave a few of us a stomach ache.) White Tea Excellent source of antioxidants to help body cells and is used against colon and rectal cancer. |
