A yellow aromatic flower shrub grown in Texas and Mexico, Damiana is native to South Africa and South America. The Greeks named Damiana “aphrodisiakos” and is known as the “goddess of love.” Also called the “love potion” since it is used as a stimulant by men and women, especially the elderly. Used as a tea at bedtime it is said to enhance intimacy and trigger erotic dreams.

Often times Damiana is used to counteract depression and anxiety, it is also said to increase appetite and is used for menstrual cramps and urinary infections. Other uses include reproductive balance in men and women, use as a laxative agent and kidney function rejuvenation. Commonly parts used are its whole plant and leaves.
