Grape Seed is indigenous to Southern Europe and Western Asia. Grape Seed was originally cultivated in Egypt over 6000 years ago for medicinal uses. It was used for chronic conditions and for liver dysfunction. Parts used are the leaves, seeds, stems and fruits. Fruits can be eaten raw or made into juice, jellies and jams, wines and sauces. Its most common use is for making wine.
Extracts of this herb contain polyphenols, an active ingredient that with antioxidant properties used to fight cancer. This herb is used as a diuretic (increases the flow of urine) and for circulatory dysfunction to clear toxins.
Extracts of Grape Seed are used to treat menopausal syndrome, menstrual pains, urinary problems, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol and skin infections. Grape Seed Extract is also used for mouth, gum, throat and eye infections.
