Description
& Use

Mullein has a sweet calming, bright yellow colored, spiked flower. It is called the Respiratory Sweetheart for its marvelous healing properties. This herb is native to Europe, North America and Asia. Parts used from this plant are the leaves and flowers.

Today this herb can be found in preparations in the form of capsules, flower oil, dried leafs and liquid extracts. It is also sold as drops in many stores. This herb is used to sooth and lubricate tissue and to promote healing for those with weak respiratory systems. Mullein serves as an expectorant, which helps clear and discharge impurities that clog the lungs and bronchial system.

Mullein is known to be a good source of vitamins and its active ingredient, Saponin, is known as a good body cleaner. Its flower part contributes to the cure of bacterial infections and carries anti-inflammatory properties for reducing inflamed tissue and swollen glands. The plant's flower oil has been used for earaches. Its antiseptic property helps promote healing of wounds, boils, and helps relieve pain from rheumatoid arthritis and is used in anti-hemorrhoid preparations.
