In Central and South America Pfaffia is known as "para todo" (everything's cure.) This plant is native to the rain forests of the Amazon. This herb is considered to have some of the same healing affectivities as Ginseng but is not related. Pfaffia was discovered by Brazilians and is used as a stimulant for body vitality and to improve sexual desire. Part used of this plant is the root.
Its derivatives and constituents are commonly used by diabetics and women's menopausal syndrome. Also used for body tissue inflammation, stress and chronic fatigue. Research continues on its use in fighting cancer. Other reports talk about a sense of well being after consuming pfaffia. For food it can be used to flavor soup and is a good additive in teas. In cosmetics it is used for bath and hair preparations.
