Thyme has been proven to treat colds and chest congestion and in some areas the tea is taken medicinally once a day to lessen chest congestion.

This herb has been used as an air purifier to kill germs when boiled in an uncovered pot. A cotton ball dipped in thyme tea is used to clean and heal infected wounds. Thyme is used as an ingredient in decongestant baths because of its warming and stimulating effect and to control dandruff when massaged into the scalp after shampooing.
